Obituary for Cecil Eugene "Chum" Hauck

Cecil “Chum” Eugene Hauck, 67, of Wellsburg, passed away peacefully at 2:21 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at his residence under the care of his friends and Amedisys Hospice Care.

Chum was born July 10, 1948 in Wellsburg, WV. He was the son of the late Cecil and Emma J. (Weatherhead) Hauck.

Chum served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army as a Sergeant (E-5), receiving National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 60. He went on to serve his community as an Officer for the Wellsburg and Bethany Police Departments. Chum was a member of the Brooke County Sportsman Club, serving as Past President and Vietnam Vet Support Group. Many will remember Chum as an outdoorsman who would take anyone fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Hauck.

Chum is survived by his two sons, Patrick Hauck and Christopher Stillion, two grandchildren, two sisters, Margaret Lewis and Dorothy Matusic, numerous cousins, friends, and three special helpers, Bill Barnhart, Trish and Brenton.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 26, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 PM and Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 9:00 until time of Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551, with Reverend Bryce Grieco, officiating. The service will conclude with Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. Following the service, Chum will be cremated and interred at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV.

Flag line will be held in solemn honor by the members of the WV Patriot Guard.
