Obituary for Bettie Leonetti (Beck)

Bettie (Beck) Leonetti, 81 of Bethany, WV, passed away in her sleep at her farmhouse on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, five days after a struggle through a winter storm. Bettie was born on August 11, 1933 in Bethany, WV.

She was the daughter of the late John and Naida (Wells) Beck. After Bettie graduated from Bethany High School, she attended WVU which infused a lifelong love for the Mountaineer football and basketball programs. On June 21, 1958, Bettie married Les Leonetti and had many happy years together. Bettie moved around a bit in her life, after growing up in Bethany. She moved to Narragansett Bay, CT, then Pittsburgh in the early 60's, followed by Wheeling, WV in the mid 70's, then Upper St. Clair, PA, where she lived nearly twenty seven years. She eventually moved back to her childhood home in 2004, where she happily lived out the rest of her years. Bettie worked as a switchboard operator at the Bethany College and in her later years at the Upper St. Clair School District. In the late 90's, Bettie started and managed a restaurant in Peters Twp. known as Ristorante Avanti. Many will remember Bettie by her lifelong love of Baseball. She was as a big a Pirate Fan as you could find. In the late 40's and early 50's, Bettie traveled with her uncle to different cities such as Cleveland and Detroit to see the Yankees play. They often would ride the same train the ballplayers rode on. She loved to tell stories of those trips. Bettie's main hobbies were gardening and genealogy. For nearly two decades Bettie worked tirelessly on her family genealogy. It was her passion for many years. Bettie lived a rich full life and had a wealth of family and friends that loved her very much.

In addition to her former husband, Bettie is survived by her dedicated son, who loved her very much, John Leonetti and his wife Sandra of Los Angeles, CA and many friends.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 12, 2015, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00 until time of Funeral Service at 8:00 PM at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551.
