Obituary for Opal Virginia Lantz

Opal Virginia Lantz, 97, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Wyngate Senior Community, Weirton, WV

Opal was born on April 24, 1918 in Follansbee, WV. She was the daughter of the late Oscar W. and Myrtle V. (Sutherland) Lantz.

Opal was employed by Brooke County Board of Education and taught for 44 years at Colliers, Edgewood, Follansbee Junior High and Follansbee Middle School.

She was a devoted and faithful member of the Follansbee United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Mixed Class, Delta Kappa Gamma, Twentieth Century Club, Bridge Club and GG’s.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul O. Lantz and two nieces, Lois V. and Wanda K Lantz and one nephew, Duane L. Lantz.

Opal is survived by one nephew, William (Carolyn) Lantz, two great-nieces, one great great-niece, three great great-nephews and many dear cousins.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 11:00 AM until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717 with Pastor Penny Calmbacher, officiating.

Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Eldersville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Follansbee United Methodist Church, 1002 Virginia Ave, Follansbee, WV 26037.
