Obituary for James C Ditty

James C Ditty, 91, of Wellsburg, WV, earned his wings on May 12, 2016.

James was born on October 19, 1924 in Wellsburg, WV. He was the youngest child of the late John and Rossie Ditty.

James served his country in Northern Europe during WWII as a member of the United States Army 398th Engineers and received several medals for his service. He was a lifelong member of the Wellsburg Presbyterian Church and served for many years as both a deacon and as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 56. He worked for 55 years at Eagle Manufacturing Company and retired as Maintenance Forman.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve McCord and his second wife, Billie Marie Foster, two brothers, Lawrence and Bob Ditty, two sisters, Rhea Wiseman and Helen Williams Ventresca. He is survived by his sister-in-law Ina Grace Walker of Carroll, OH.

James is survived by his twin sons, Jim Ditty, Jr. of Galveston, TX and Tom Ditty of Elkins, two step children, Debbie Foster Bickerstaff of Rehoboth Beach, DE and James Foster of Washington, DC; seven grandchildren, Ryan Ditty of Los Angeles, CA, Jordan Ditty of Irving, TX, Erinn Ditty of Houston, TX, Brandon Ditty of Saratoga Springs, NY, McKenzie Ditty of Tianjin, China, Stephanie Tyrpak of Washington, DC, and Michael Bickerstaff of Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 12 Noon until time of Funeral Service at 1:30 PM at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551, with Pastor Frank Haas, officiating.

Interment will follow at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom, WV, with Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
