Obituary for Rose Francis Goettel (Palma)

Rose Francis (Palma) Goettel, 82, of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 7:33 PM on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Golden Oaks, Follansbee. WV.

Rose was born on July 17, 1934 in Follansbee, WV. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Adelle (Gabrielle) Palma.

She was a member of St Anthony Church, Follansbee, WV, where she was involved with the Blessed Mother Sodality and Altar Rosary Society. Many will remember Rose for her unending work as a Eucharist Minister, at St. Francis Center, and many other details of the church such as the funeral luncheons, sending cards and steak fry’s.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Goettel, son, Charles “Chucko” Goettel, four sisters, Mary Palma, Angela Porreca, Natahalie Pompa, and Anna Hissom, and three brothers, James, Domenic, and Bernard Palma.

Rose is survived by her five children, June Ayers of Weirton, WV, William “Bill” Goettel and his wife Delcie of Fairmont, WV, Angela Goettel, James “Jim” Goettel and his wife, Donna, and Natalie Beatty and her husband, Harold Jr., all of Follansbee, WV, nine grandchildren, Julia and Thomas Ayers, Meghan Goettel, Andrea (Joel) Lettrick, Zachary Miller, Andrew Goettel, and Emily, Hope, and Luke Beatty, a great-grandson, Gabriel Lettrick, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 4:00- 8:00 PM with Vigil Service at 7:30 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717, where funeral will commence on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 9:30 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson Street, Follansbee, WV, with Father Thomas R. Gallagher, presiding.

Entombment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
