Obituary for Mary Jane Kemp (Cunningham)

Mary Jane (Cunningham) Kemp, 85, of Bethany, WV, passed away peacefully at 11:15 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Valley Haven Geriatric Center, Beech Bottom, WV under the care of the dedicated staff and Valley Hospice.

Mary Jane was born on June 9, 1931 in Power, WV. She was the daughter of the late Gloe A. and Helen E. (Wiles) Cunningham.

Mary Jane retired from A&P Tea Company and Bethany College. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #64 and the Womens’ Club, both of Bethany, WV and the Women of the Moose, Wellsburg, WV.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her dear husband, James E. “Bill” Kemp Sr. in May, two sisters, Thelma Dewitt and Donna Stewart and a brother, Charles Cunningham.

Mary Jan is survived by her son, James E. Kemp Jr. and his wife, Laura of Bethany, WV, four brothers, Paul, William, John, and Tom Cunningham, two sisters, Betty Lou Fanire and Peggy Ann Hamilton and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM with Eastern Star Ceremony at 6:30PM and again on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551, with Pastor Joy Leasure, officiating.

Interment will follow next to her dear husband at Bethany Cemetery, Bethany, WV.

The family would like to thank Karol Puskarich, Mary Jane’s sister-in-law, for her love and devotion but also for showing that she cared for Mary Jane everyday.
