R. Cleo Van Horn Wilson, 94 of McKinleyville, WV, passed peacefully away at 5:15 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Valley Haven Geriatric Center, Beech Bottom, WV.

Cleo was born on June 4, 1922 in McKinleyville, WV. She was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Catherine (Garrison) Schwertfeger.

Cleo was a 1940 graduate of Bethany High School and took great pride in being the membership chairman of the Reunions. She retired from the former Wesvaco Paper Company with 34 years of service. Cleo was a devoted and faithful member of the West Liberty Christian Church, the “Renegades” Swim Club, AARP, Senior Citizens of Brooke County and a social member of the 318th Fighter Group, WWII. Many will remember Cleo for her traveling the North American Continent and foreign countries, for her gift of making every moment an event, and being a friend to everyone with a smile, wink or cheery “Hello”.

In addition to her parents, Cleo was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Van Horn, her second husband of 48 years, Raymond Wilson, two great grandchildren, Curtis Van Horn and Julia Rice.

Cleo is survived by her son, Lloyd “Peanut” (Judy) Van Horn, two grandchildren, Amy and husband, Keith Francis and Mark (Joann) Van Horn, two great grandchildren, Eden Rice and Zack Van Horn, three brothers, Charles “Red” (Janie), Russell (Jean), and Noel (Joyce) Schwertfeger, a sister, Olive Turner, a special nephew, Jay A Schwertfeger and family, several other loved nieces and nephews, including Cheri Koscevic and numerous friends.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551 and again at the West Liberty Christian Church on Monday, 6, 2017 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dennis Arnold Officiating.

Interment will follow at Prall Cemetery, West Liberty, WV.
