Obituary for Hobart "Geral" Riggs

Hobart “Geral” Riggs, 84, of Colliers, WV, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Trinity Medical Center ER, Steubenville, OH.

Geral was born on December 5, 1932 in Beeson, WV. He was the son of the late Roy Cline and Wanema Matil (Hogue) Riggs.

Geral attended Wesleyan Church, Weirton, WV. He worked with the former Tri-State Asphalt now Shelly and Sands as a Foreman, earlier worked with Formis Trucking. Many will remember Geral for his love of work, hunting and fishing, but most of all gardening for the family.

Geral is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laura Mae (Hiley) Riggs of Colliers, five children, Daniel Riggs and his significant other, Dee of Washington Court, OH, Diana (Rick) Stoaks of Follansbee, WV, Timothy (Sandy) Riggs of Madison, WV, Valerie (Jeff) Wells of Colliers, WV, and Rodney Riggs of Wetumpka, AL, eight grandchildren, Ashely Riggs, Chad Stoaks, Shelby (Rory) O’Connor, Jason Stoaks, Shannon Petruccoli, Desirrae Wells, and Rodney and Sharee Riggs, three great grandchildren, Sebastian Riggs, Rainna and Evan Petruccoli, three brothers, Arthur (Betty), Arden (Marsha) and Duane Riggs, a sister, Regina (Eric) Brannon and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM and again on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717 with Pastor Larry Garrison, officiating.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Colliers, WV.
