Obituary for Richard John Copula

Richard John Copula, 85, of Alexandria, VA, died on June 17, 2017 at his residence in Alexandra, VA.

Richard was born on October 20, 1931 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of the late Anna Yarka.

Richard served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps and Air Force obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant upon his retirement. He had a very distinguished military career receiving the Marnie Corps Korean Service Medal with two stars, United Nations Service Medal with a Star, Purple Heart, and National Defense Service Medal, and with the Air Force the Good Conduct Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and Longevity Service Award with two Oak Leaf Cluster. After his retirement from the military, Richard went on to work for the Metro Transportation of Washington D.C. working as a Mechanical Engineer.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Irene Carroll.

Richard is survived by his niece, Jolena Brown and her family of Follansbee, WV.

Private family graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA under the honor and service of the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with Military Honors by the United States Air Force Command.
