Obituary for Dr. Graydon "Gray" Williamson, EdD

Dr. Graydon Williamson, EdD, 79, of Bethany, WV, passed away at 2:55 AM on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Wheeling Hospital, WV with his loving wife, Sydma Hatzopoulos, at his side.

Gray was born on May 31, 1938 in Frazeysburg, OH. He was the son of the late Clayton and Leona (McFarland) Williamson.

Gray attended Mount Union College, Kent State University, and West Virginia University. He was employed for 40 years at the former West Liberty State College, now West Liberty University, teaching English and Communication. His greatest joys were his students and colleagues.

Gray was a member of Bethany Memorial Church, Bethany Masonic Lodge 69, Eastern Star Chapter 64, and the Saturday morning Breakfast Club at Chambers General Store. Many will remember Gray for his work as an EMT at Bethany Volunteer Fire Department and EMS.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 10:30 AM until time of Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM at Bethany Memorial Church, Bethany, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, C/O Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main Street, Wellsburg, WV 26070.
