Obituary for Walter Louis Staten

Walter Louis Staten, 81, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away at 5:31 PM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV.

Walter was born on February 21, 1936, Wellsburg, WV. He was the son of Walter and Thelma (Schupbach) Staten.

Walter served his country proudly in the United States Army and served in Korea. He was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church and the Moose. Walter was a long haul and local truck driver, enjoyed camping and loved to travel.

Walter is survived by his wife, Julia (Raineri) Staten of Wellsburg, WV, three step-children, Karen Thomas of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Lawrence “Bud” (Marty) Sayre of West Liberty, WV, Marion “Kadie” (John) Cochrane of Columbus, OH, six grandchildren, Stan Jr. and Jason Thomas, Jacob Sayre, Julie Gilbert, Tammy Arvin and David Blake, 11 great grandchildren, Austin, Dynah, Jackson, Gus, Bella, Andy, Seth, John, Ian, Sarah, and Francesca, a great great grandson, Grayson, a brother, Fred Staten, a sister, JoAnn (Ernie) Capp, all of Wellsburg, WV, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM and again on Tuesday, January 9, 2017 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304) 737-3551, with Reverend Carl Tribett, Officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV with Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
