Obituary for Shirley Roberta Jones
Shirley Roberta (Pastors) Jones, 89, of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 1:15 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Golden Oaks under the care of the staff and Valley Hospice.
Shirley was born on September 22, 1928. She was the daughter of the late John and Jean (Beatty) Pastors.
Shirley graduated from Steubenville High School. She retired from the Brooke County School System as a Secretary in the Guidance Department of the High School. Shirley was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church, Wellsburg, WV. Many will remember Shirley for bring a volunteer for hospice, working her church’s roast beef luncheons, the love of dogs, books and her front porch; but most of all, her trips to Canada and summers at Ruggles Beach on Lake Erie.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Reed Jones, a son, Douglas Todd Jones, a sister, Judith Lindquist and a dear cousin, Douglas Giffin.
Shirley is survived by her son, Mark Jones and his wife, Jan of Valparaiso, IN, two grandchildren, Kensington Drinkwine of Mayville, WI and David Jones of Chandler, AZ, three great grandchildren, Braden, Tate and Lilly Drinkwine, a brother-in-law, Robert Lindquist, two nieces, Janine Werner and her husband, William, Chris Griffith and her husband, Mark, and a nephew, Andrew Lindquist and his wife, Kayo.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5:00-7:30 PM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304) 527-1717.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, Wellsburg, WV (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH), with Reverend Phil Van Dam, presiding.
Interment will be private St. John Cemetery, Colliers, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, C/O James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV 26037.
