Obituary for Dora (DiRemigio) Branch

Dora (DiRemigio) Branch
Dora (DiRemigio) Branch, 86, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 5:30 AM on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Sunrise Senior Living in Dublin, OH. She was under the gentle care of the Sunrise staff and Capital City Hospice, with her family by her side.

Dora was born to the late Amy DiGiacinto DiRemigio and Andrew DiRemigio on March 10, 1932 in Follansbee, WV.

Dora was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Arthur Branch in 2008. She dearly missed him every single day of the past 10 years. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Ralph DiRemigio and Andrew DiRemigio, Jr. along with her very special brother-in-law, Dr. Andrew S. Balta and nephew, Andrew Brian Balta.

She is survived by two children MaryLee Duvall and her husband Charles of Columbus, OH and Arthur W. Branch and his wife, Dee of Follansbee, WV. Also surviving are her granddaughter, DeAnna Duvall and her husband, Forrest Raffel, a great-grandson, Reid Raffel, a sister, JoAnn DiRemigio Balta of Washington, PA, a sister-in-law, Aletha DiRemigio of Moundsville, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Dora loved her home at Sunrise of Dublin. She made many new friends and loved them all. She was always opinionated and would tell you exactly how she felt – like it or not. Dora was a fighter and remained that way until the end. During the last few days of her life, staff members and residents stopped by her room to tell her she was loved. They loved her feisty, yet gentle spirit. She was proud of her Italian heritage and let everyone know it!

We, the family, would like to thank the staff of Sunrise of Dublin and Capital City Hospice for their compassionate care. We offer special thanks to Dr. Kevin Goist of The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center. He always went above and beyond in his care for our Mom.

In keeping with Dora’s explicit wishes, there was no public viewing. She was trusted to the care of James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV. Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery, next to her dear husband, Arthur Branch. Father Cody Ford of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church officiated.

In her memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or online at www.alz.org/donate
