Obituary for Thomas Donaldson Brown Jr.

Thomas Donaldson Brown Jr., 86 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Grangeville, ID after a peacefully trip with his brother across country.

Thomas was born on November 26, 1931 in Wellsburg, WV. He was the son of the late Thomas Donaldson Sr. and Mildred O. (Gilkey) Brown.

Thomas served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War stateside. He retired after 44 years from Koppers’ Follansbee, WV. Thomas was a member of AARP. Many will remember Thomas for always being like a kid and having a coin or something special for them.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae (McGavitt) Wenzel Brown, step-daughter, Nancy Patterson, step grandson, Matthew Patterson, and sister, Marian L. Sohn.

Thomas is survived by his four step children, Barbara Staschiak and her husband, Kevin of Middleburg, PA, Elaine Becker and her husband, Mark of Pittsburgh, PA, John Wenzel Jr. and his wife, Lynda of Clinton, PA and Richard Wenzel and his wife, Suzanne of Maryland, ten step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, three siblings, Gerald E. Brown and his wife, MJ of Grangeville, ID, Carol Morrison and her husband, Austin of Blountville, TN, and Patricia Schwarz and her husband, John of Wellsburg, WV, brother-in-law, James L Sohn and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 1:00 PM until Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551 with Funeral Chaplain Sharon Van Dam, officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV, with Military Honors by the WV Army National Guard and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
