Edna May (Knuth) Niven, 88 of Beech Bottom, WV, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Continuous Care Center, Wheeling, WV.

Edna was born on June 30, 1930 in Wheeling, WV. She was the daughter of the late William F. and Rose (Gross) Knuth.

Edna was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg, WV and the former Holy Family Catholic Mission, Beech Bottom, where she was the organist, member of Holy Rosary and took communion to shut-ins. In addition to the Catholic Church, she was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 23, Wellsburg, WV, Lions Club, AARP, and formerly the Women's Auxiliary of the Beech Bottom Volunteer Fire Department. Edna loved to crochet afghans and spending time with her dear friend Rose Scherich.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Niven Sr., four siblings, Carolyn Montgomery, William, Edward Knuth and Gracie Holpp and special friend, Sherman Frankhouser.

Edna is survived by her six children, Judy (David) Ambrose of Weirton, WV, Barbara (Dennis) Koegel of Chester, MD, John R. (Cynthia) Niven Jr. of Beech Bottom, WV, Paula (Ed) Kennedy of Palmdale, CA, Sherry (Keith) Peklinsky of Valley Grove, WV, and Pamela (Robert) Petrush of Bayonne, NJ, 13 Grandchildren, Eric (Jennifer), Heather, Brooks (Allie), Stephanie, Adrienne, Shane, Shawn, Alison, Ashley, Andrew (Jennifer), Ryan (Jackie), Brandy and Christopher, nine great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Megan, Alanna, Makaiya, Taylor, Braiden, Owen, Gracie, and Bentley, a sister, Darlene (Rick) Bickmier of Rush Run, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM with an Eastern Star Service at 6:30 PM at Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV (304)737-3551, where funeral will commence on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 9:30 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg, WV with Father Daniel Pisano, presiding.

Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
