Eleanor Louise (Smurda) Thomas, 86 of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 9:00 PM on Friday, January 18, 2019 with her family by her side at Trinity Medical center, Steubenville, OH.
Eleanor was born on Feburary 10, 1932 in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Exterovich) Smurda.
Eleanor was a devoted member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Steubenville, OH. She retired from the Brooke County School System as a secretary at Jefferson School, Follansbee, WV. Eleanor will always be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, best friend and for her apple pies.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Thomas and a sister, Joan Smurda Phillippi.
Eleanor leaves behind her daughter, Janice (Thomas) Felton and her husband, Jeff Felton and her son, Edward Thomas and his wife, Lorretta (Iafrate) Thomas, four grandchildren, Jeffery Thomas Felton and his wife, Katie, Lindsay (Felton) King and her husband, Dave, Kelsie Felton and her boyfriend, Mark Roberts and Samantha Thomas, three great grandchildren, Bodhi Felton, Tucker Felton and Ella King, a brother, John Smurda and his wife, Suzie and a nephew, Ryan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately at St. Peter Catholic Church, Steubenville, OH, interment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.
