|Fred & Jerry Chambers, & Jennifer Chambers - Ficca Founding Family Members|
Fred T. Chambers is a resident of Wellsburg and the previous owner of the Chambers and James Funeral Homes. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1960 and went on to graduate from West Liberty State College in 1964.
He wanted to follow in his father's dreams so he went on to study at and graduate from the Cincinnati Mortuary School, in 1965. He is a funeral director at Chambers & James Funeral Homes since 1966. He is married to the former Jerry Lynch Chambers. He has three grown children; Lance Chambers, Jamie Johnson, and Melissa Wright and seven grandchildren; Tanner, Parker, Megan, and Molly, Brooks, and twins, Grayson and Findley Wright.
Fred has always been an active member of the community. He serves the Lions Club, Elks, Loyal Order of The Moose, Rotary, Wellsburg Masonic Lodge, Follansbee Garibaldi, Cedar Lodge, West Liberty State College, and NAIA All American Baseball Team. Fred was even named the Citizen of the Year in Follansbee.
Fred, like his sister Jennifer, is excited about the transition of the Funeral Homes to the new owner, Eric Fithyan. He knew the first day he talked with Eric about this transfer that he was the gentleman to carry on the Chambers name and understand the not only experience that he had in funeral service industry, but also the health care industry. With this experience, Eric would not only be able to serve as a funeral director but an educator in Funeral Service and Health Care.
Jerry Lynch Chambers, of Wellsburg, WV, graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1961 and the Ohio Valley School of Nursing in 1964. Jerry worked as a registered nurse for the Brooke County Health Dept for ten years, Weirton Hospital for five years, and was the office manager at Chambers & James Funeral Homes. She married Fred Chambers on May 22, 1965, and they are the parents of three grown children, Lance Chambers, Jamie Johnson, and Melissa Wright. She is the proud grandparent of Tanner and Parker Johnson, Megan and Molly Chambers, and Brooks, and twins, Grayson and Findley Wright.
Jennifer Chambers - Ficca has been with the funeral home for many years. "I was so excited when my family's funeral home was passed off to Eric Fithyan. The experience that he brings to this organization and the community of Wellsburg and Follansbee is so great. I know that my parents would be proud of the Chambers and James Funeral Homes and Eric Fithyan as owner and funeral director. My brother, Fred, and I would not have chosen any other individual but Eric. I will continue to support him through this transition and for many years to come."
