Eric Fithyan is a resident of Brooke County. He was born in Wheeling Hospital to Ernie and Teresa (McFadden) Fithyan. The Fithyan family lived on West Street in Follansbee for a short period of time before moving to Wellsburg.
Eric became interested in music at a very young age. He studied piano with Linda Henderickson and later with David Zapka. Eric was a member of the Wellsburg Middle School Marching Band and then the Brooke High School Marching Band, Pep Band, and Concert Band where he played Trumpet, Mellophone and French Horn. Eric was a member of the Brooke High School Madrigal and Concert Choirs. He also served with numerous other students in the Key Club and was elected Lieutenant Governor of the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia for the Key Club. Eric graduated with honors from Brooke High School in 2002. He also graduated in 2004 from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA with Cum Laude honors.
Eric worked as a Funeral Director with Heffner Funeral Homes in York, PA and the Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes in Pittsburgh, PA. He served both funeral homes as Manager. Eric then became the Director of Bereavement, Spirituality, and Volunteers Services of Cedars Community Hospice. These services at Cedars Community Hospice started from conception and grew to the largest volunteer and bereavement program of the Greater Pittsburgh area. In addition to creating volunteer recognition receptions, fundraising events, and support groups, he was able to help individuals who were dying celebrate their life and supported their families as their loved ones transitioned to the afterlife. "This was an honor to walk into people's lives when they were dying. It was like the poem that I went in to hold their hand, but they touched my heart," explained Eric. He was able to serve with the Monroeville Rotary Club, Monroeville Area Chambers of Commerce, Board Member of the CORE Task Force, Board Member of the Food Bank of Wilkinsburg (Wilkinsburg Community Ministries), member of Calvary Church, and Neighbors Unite Wilkinsburg.
Eric is excited and honored to be back in his hometown to provide meaningful services for the community. He has joined his families church, Christ Church where he serves on the Vestry and former Senior Warden, and substitute organist. He has been asked to serve numerous local organizations and is looking into all of the wonderful things that are going on in Brooke County and the Northern Panhandle. Eric serves as President the Wellsburg Kiwanis Club, President of the WV Funeral Directors Association - Ohio District and Legislative Committee Chair, Brooke Hancock and Jefferson Counties Advisory Board, Board Member of Follansbee Chamber of Commerce, special project chairman of the Weirton Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Wellsburg Christmas Parade, former Choirmaster of the Wellsburg Community Choir and former President and Founder of Twilight Wish Foundation - WV.
Under the young direction of Eric, the funeral homes have received best of the best funeral homes by the readers of the Herald Star and Weirton Daily Times 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2013, Best Business by the Follansbee Chamber of Commerce 2014 and a special commendation from WV Secretary of State Natalie Tennant for their work for change in their community.

Ellen Daughterty is the Administrative Assistant at the Chambers and James Funeral Homes in both Wellsburg and Follansbee.
Ellen is a resident of Wellsburg, WV and the former administrative assistant at the Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church and Regional Office of the Pittsburgh Conference of the Free Methodist Church. Ellen has two wonderful daughters and two grandchildren whom she loves spending time with. In Ellen's spare time, she is very active in the Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church.
Ellen is very excited about working with Eric Fithyan and his staff at the Chambers and James Funeral Homes. She knows from her work with the church that each family is unique and needs assistance in planning a meaningful tribute to their loved one.

Fred T. Chambers is a resident of Wellsburg and the previous owner of the Chambers and James Funeral Homes. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1960 and went on to graduate from West Liberty State College in 1964.
He wanted to follow in his father's dreams so he went on to study at and graduate from the Cincinnati Mortuary School, in 1965. He is a funeral director at Chambers & James Funeral Homes since 1966. He is married to the former Jerry Lynch Chambers. He has three grown children; Lance Chambers, Jamie Johnson, and Melissa Wright and seven grandchildren; Tanner, Parker, Megan, and Molly, Brooks, and twins, Grayson and Findley Wright.
Fred has always been an active member of the community. He serves the Lions Club, Elks, Loyal Order of The Moose, Rotary, Wellsburg Masonic Lodge, Follansbee Garibaldi, Cedar Lodge, West Liberty State College, and NAIA All American Baseball Team. Fred was even named the Citizen of the Year in Follansbee.
Fred, like his sister Jennifer, is excited about the transition of the Funeral Homes to the new owner, Eric Fithyan. He knew the first day he talked with Eric about this transfer that he was the gentleman to carry on the Chambers name and understand the not only experience that he had in funeral service industry, but also the health care industry. With this experience, Eric would not only be able to serve as a funeral director but an educator in Funeral Service and Health Care.
Jerry Lynch Chambers, of Wellsburg, WV, graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1961 and the Ohio Valley School of Nursing in 1964. Jerry worked as a registered nurse for the Brooke County Health Dept for ten years, Weirton Hospital for five years, and was the office manager at Chambers & James Funeral Homes. She married Fred Chambers on May 22, 1965, and they are the parents of three grown children, Lance Chambers, Jamie Johnson, and Melissa Wright. She is the proud grandparent of Tanner and Parker Johnson, Megan and Molly Chambers, and Brooks, and twins, Grayson and Findley Wright.
Jennifer Chambers - Ficca has been with the funeral home for many years. "I was so excited when my family's funeral home was passed off to Eric Fithyan. The experience that he brings to this organization and the community of Wellsburg and Follansbee is so great. I know that my parents would be proud of the Chambers and James Funeral Homes and Eric Fithyan as owner and funeral director. My brother, Fred, and I would not have chosen any other individual but Eric. I will continue to support him through this transition and for many years to come."

Ernie is the son of the late Ernest Fithyan, Sr. and Wilda Neil-Fithyan of Steubenville, OH. He is a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central.
Ernie is retired from Windsor Coal in West Liberty, WV. His is a bus driver for Brooke County Schools and is also known as a football official.
He is the proud father of two sons; Russell of Maryland and Eric of Wellsburg, WV. He also has three adorable granddaughters; Lily, Grace, and Madelynn.
Ernie and Teresa are honored to support Eric in his funeral endeavors.

Teresa is the daughter of the late Charles Ronald (Ron) McFadden and Nancy Barnhart- McFadden of Wellsburg, WV.
She is a Kindergarten Aide at Franklin Primary School. She resides in Wellsburg, WV with her husband, Ernie. She is a proud mother of two sons; Russell of Maryland and Eric of Wellsburg, WV. She also has three adorable granddaughters; Lily, Grace, and Madelynn.
Teresa is honored and proud to support her son Eric in his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own funeral home. Teresa, with her caring heart and warm smile, is always willing to serve your needs.

Janet Leary is proud to be working at the Chambers and James Funeral Homes.
Janet has one son, John, his wife, Linda, and a granddaughter Johnna Leary. She retired from the Brooke County Board of Education as an Administrative Assistant at the Guidance Office at Brooke High School. Janet still volunteers in the office at Brooke High School.
Janet is a member of Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church where she participates in House Church. She also is a member of the 20th Century Club.

Frank Pulice, a resident of Weirton, WV, is proud to have joined the staff at Chambers and James Funeral Home. Frank retired from Weirton Steel Corp. He is honored to be a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Weirton, where he serves as an usher. When not working Frank enjoys lifting and golfing.

Sandra Slivka is a resident of Wellsburg, WV. She is the daughter of Aaron Coen and Julia Slivka. Sanda lives with her maternal grandparents, Jonathan and Sandra (Hilt) Slivka.
Sandra is excited to be attending mortuary school at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. She is working part-time with both the McCabe Brothers Funeral Homes, Pittsburgh, PA and Chambers and James on the weekends. Sandra is learning many new items of funeral service and the hands on experience with both funeral homes will give her a foundation of learning.
Sandra is a 2016 graduate of Brooke High School where she was a Bruin Leader and a member of Key Club, Leo Club, Future Business Leaders of America, and Paws N Claws.

|Sharon Van Dam, Funeral Chaplain/ Funeral Attendant|
Sharon and her husband, Phil recently moved to Wellsburg, WV from Martins Ferry, OH. They are both ordained Lutheran pastors and Phil is currently serving a three congregation cluster of Episcopal Churches: Christ in Wellsburg, Olde St. John's in Colliers, and St. Thomas in Weirton. Sharon has a B.S. and an M.A. in Speech Communication from Ball State University and an M.Div from Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
Before retiring, Sharon served Resurrection Lutheran Church in Weirton, WV. Prior to entering the ministry, she taught Speech and English at Ball State University in Muncie, IN.
Sharon and Phil have five children; Les, Charlotte, Adrian, Alexandra, and Armeda, and five grandchildren; Abbie, Claire, Carmen, Jayden, and Larken. All of them live out of the state so they don't get to see them as often as they'd like.
She enjoys competitive walking, drawing, and she is a lifelong fan of science fiction.
