Obituary for Carolina "Lena" Caruso
Carolina “Lena” Caruso, 61 of Follansbee, WV, passed away at 5:50 AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her sister, Mena’s residence under the care of the family and Amedisys Hospice.
Lena was born on February 12, 1956 in Savelli, Italy. She was the daughter of Giuseppe “Joe” and Candida (Santoro) Caruso of Follansbee, WV.
Lena was a member of the Wellsburg Church of the Nazarene and the Wellsburg Moose. She worked at the family restaurant Caurso’s Wellsburg, WV and with her brother at Farmer Frank’s and Riverview Greenhouse. Lena enjoyed bowling, volunteering with the Italian Festival Wheeling, WV and participating for many years in the Brooke Hancock Relay for Life. Many will remember Lena for her love of cooking, baking, but most of all her love and smile that filled every room.
Lena was preceded in death by her sister, Gina (Caruso) Lewis.
In addition to her parents, Lena is survived by her two sons, Henry (Heather) Dupke of Morgantown, WV and Jacob (Heather) Dupke of Follansbee, WV, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four siblings, Mena (Phil) Johnson of Colliers, WV, Frank (Lisa) Caruso of Wellsburg, WV, Maria (Rick) Drennan of Weirton, WV, and JoAnn (John) Ortitay of Avella, PA, several nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly and a host aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 8:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 9:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717, with her pastor, Reverend Brian Knight, officiating.
Interment will follow next to her dear sister, Gina at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, WV.
The family of Lena would like to express their thanks for the love, prayers, cards and support of the community during her journey of life. Every item put a smile on Lena's face, especially the time she spent with her dear nieces and nephews.
